CHS students featured in award ceremony

Calexico High School held its annual awards ceremony at Varner gym in Calexico where a group of criminal justice students was featured.

Mr. Davies is a criminal justice teacher at CHS, and this year his students participated in The Law Enforcement Academy Training with Border Patrol. The students had the opportunity to train the way law enforcement officials do.

After training has finished, students receive college credits as well as extra credit for their classes.

During President Trump’s visit to Calexico last month, the students were in the front lines and assisted The Calexico Police Department as well as secret service in the president’s motorcade and security detail.

Assistant Attorney General Robert S. Brewer Jr. sent a video message to the students saying how impressed he was with them about their performance in the motorcade and advised them to think about joining a career in public service by way of the military or law enforcement.

El Centro Border Patrol Chief Chavez and Calexico Chief of Police Gerardo also commented on how professional they looked.
