Two members of MS-13 gang arrested by Border Patrol
Two members of the Mara-Salvatrucha, MS-13 street gang were apprehended in separate incidents after they illegally entered the United States this week.
According to Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents, 30-year-old Joel Santos-Funes, a Honduran national was encountered on canyon west of Nogales by agents as he entered the country early morning on Monday. After being apprehended Santos was transported to Nogales station where agents took his fingerprints and based on his record check they discovered he was an active member of the MS-13 gang.
On Tuesday morning Casa Grande agents apprehended 39-year-old Deyly Turcios-Giron. Turcios who was arrested west of Tucson was later transported to the Casa Grande Station where agents uncovered his affiliation with MS-13.
Both men have extensive immigration violation histories. Turcios had a 2013 criminal conviction for drug smuggling in Arizona. Both men will remain in federal custody pending prosecution for criminal immigration violations.
