Man sentenced for conspiring with officers to sell drugs
A man who conspired with two Bakersfield, California police detectives to sell methamphetamine and marijuana stolen from police evidence has been sentenced to 7 ½ years in federal prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Noel Carter must also forfeit more than $285,000 in drug trafficking proceeds and pay $70,000 in restitution.
The Bakersfield Californian reports prosecutors agreed to recommend a penalty on the low end of the sentencing range for Carter’s cooperation in the case.
In 2016 his co-conspirators, former detectives Damacio Diaz and Patrick Mara, were each sentenced to five years in federal prison.
