Yuma woman dresses as nun while allegedly trafficking fentanyl

Two Yuma residents, one dressed as a nun, were arrested near Eloy last Monday for allegedly smuggling $90,000 worth of fentanyl.

The two residents are identified as married couple Jose Aguilar Diaz and Esther Gomez De Aguilar, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest happened while the K-9 deputy was conducting traffic enforcement.

PCSO claimed when the officer approached the vehicle Gomez De Aguilar was dressed as a nun and had a Bible in her lap.

Deputies discovered four bundles of alleged fentanyl pills inside Gomez De Aguilar’s purse and two more bundles attached to her body, according to PCSO.

Deputies said the fentanyl added up to more than eight pounds or about $90,000 worth of fentanyl.

The couple was booked into jail on three narcotic-related charges, according to PCSO.
