I-8 Crash: one dead, two injured

One man is dead and two have serious injuries after a multiple car crash closed the I-8 near Avenue 3E Thursday night.

The initial accident happened at 7:39 p.m. and involved three cars, according to the Department of Public Safety.

A secondary crash occurred when a 70-year-old man driving a Ford pickup truck tried to avoid the initial crash said DPS.

DPS claimed the man hit an unoccupied car and three people.

One of those who was hit was thrown over the overpass and later died at the hospital. according to DPS. He has been identified by DPS as 35-year-old Javier Ibarria .

The other two who were struck by the pickup truck were pinned under the truck and have serious injuries according to DPS.
