Hundreds of migrants have just arrived in Mexicali
Mexicali is expected to receive 1,000 Central American migrants from the second wave of the migrant caravan, even though the shelters there are not prepared to receive them.
That’s because the Mexican government recently eliminated a fund for migrants, under the leadership of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Seven-hundred migrants recently arrived in Mexicali, and the 1,000 more are expected to arrive this weekend.
The Mexican government gave the wave of 15,000 Central American migrants permission to stay in the country. This will most likely increase the amount of time that they are in Mexico, as they wait to seek asylum in the U.S.
