Local student shows talent, singing since the age of 4

Ken McLaughlin is a Yuma Catholic High School student that has been singing his heart out and playing the guitar since he was very young.

McLaughlin performed at Yum Catholic’s talent show and spoke with News 11 about his preparation before his performance.

“Before I perform I usually go through the song lyrics in my head because mental preparation is also as good as physical preparation as some say,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin’s first performance was at a young age.

“My first performance was when I was about four-years-old I think, at a Diamondbacks game in Phoenix I think. I sang the national anthem there and I’ve been doing it ever since,” said McLaughlin.

Throughout the years the best part about performing is the rewarding feeling of getting on stage and delivering is best and he strives to continue this over the years.

“The faces of the crowd when I’m done and when I’m playing. Just seeing their faces, it just brings me a lot of joy singing and playing guitar and I like to show my talent,” said McLaughlin.
