Man accused of drunk driving denied change of representation

The man accused of killing a Yuma woman in a drunk driving incident back in May appeared in court to request a new attorney.
Twenty-year-old Christopher Peirce said his current lawyer is not representing him well.
“He is always busy, I think my case should be a priority,” Peirce said.
His attorney Jerry Hernandez responded by saying, “I’ve given him the best I have.”
The state disagreed with Peirce’s statements saying Hernandez has always been on top of keeping him informed.
The judge denied Peirce’s request for new representation and vouched for Hernandez, “I know you are getting good representation,” the judge said.
Peirce will be back in court in March to continue discussing the developments in his case.

Peirce is accused of killing 66-year-old Maria Patch after he crashed into her vehicle while police say he was under the influence of alcohol.
