YMCA receives grant money from notable retailer

The Yuma Family YMCA annual campaign fund just received a large donation from a notable retailer in town.

JCPenney Community Foundation awarded the YMCA of Yuma a $1200 check for their work with kids in the community. They were selected as this year’s outstanding local organization. The grant was submitted by the general manager of the retail store in Yuma and given to the YMCA at the JCPenney department store Tuesday afternoon.

“This 1,200 dollars will go towards helping our youth programs provide a scholarship to families in the Yuma area. The annual campaign is critical for us to survive in Yuma County because our annual campaign provides all the funds for all of our programs and scholarships,” said Annie Clary, Executive Director of the Yuma Family YMCA.

While it’s the memberships of the YMCA that keep the lights on, it’s donations like these that really help continue community outreach programs. One of which is their new sports program that they hope to launch in the next coming months.
