Tapia’s family tradition at the Buttercup Sand Dunes
As many gathered to ring in the New Year thousands celebrated by sitting around the campfire or riding their ATV’s in the Sand Dunes that surround the Desert Southwest. For the Tapia family from Glendale, Arizona it has been annual tradition for nine years.
“We sit around the fire at night and one of our friends makes his famous carne asada and his Tony Tacos that’s a favorite tradition,” said Dawn Tapia, resident of Phoenix.
Tapia’s 10 year old daughter, Alaina, hoped to continue their tradition for generations in the family.
“It’s a fun idea to gather around with family in a sand area and go ride out to enjoy yourself,” said Tapia.
The Buttercup Sand Dunes is one of the busiest National Park camping sites in the area.
