Agents at the Tucson Station rescued an immigrant who nearly drowned after running into a cattle pond while trying to evade arrest Sunday night, according to US Customs and Border Protection.
CBP said agents spotted two people walking in a remote area approximately six miles southwest of Three Points and responded with the assistance of an Operation Guardian Support helicopter.
As agents attempted to arrest them, but both men fled from authorities.
CBP one of the men was an 18-year-old Guatemalan who ran directly into a cattle pond that was filled with mud and murky water. The man began calling out in distress and was unable to stay afloat.
