Travel Alert: Lane restrictions scheduled on Interstate 8 in Yuma

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers to plan ahead for lane restrictions on Interstate 8 in Yuma beginning Tuesday, November 27.

The restrictions will begin near the Telegraph Pass at 7 a.m.

Contractors are scheduled for work that will require aerial crossings between the I-8 U.S. Border Patrol immigration checkpoint east of Yuma (milepost 17) and the Ligurta Station RV Park (milepost 21.3).

To protect the safety of the workers adjacent to I-8 at least one travel lane in both directions must be closed.

Drivers should plan for the following restriction daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, February 17:

I-8 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions. Motorists should anticipate a 10-minute road closure in both directions only during aerial crossings. Note: Restrictions will be lifted from Monday, Dec. 24, through Wednesday, Dec. 26, because of the Christmas holiday. Restrictions will also be lifted Monday, Dec. 31, through Wednesday, Jan. 2, because of the New Year’s Day holiday. A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. Drivers are asked to be careful and obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices, and use caution around public safety personnel and equipment.
