$133K worth of meth discovered by CBP
A twenty-one-year-old man was arrested after agents discovered a significant amount of methamphetamine in his vehicle on Saturday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Agents referred a Dodge Challenger for a more in-depth examination and utilized a CBP canine team to inspect the vehicle.
A canine alerted to the vehicle where agents discovered 50 wrapped packages of methamphetamine hidden inside a floor compartment.
The weight of the packages was approximately 53 pounds with a street value of $133,000.
“CBP officers remain vigilant and focused on inspecting all persons and vehicles entering the ports of entry,” said Andrade (acting) Port Director Martin Cuesta. “I’m proud of their efforts in keeping narcotics off our streets and out of our neighborhoods.”
CBP officers turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing and he was later transported to the Imperial County Jail where he currently awaits arraignment.
CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle
