Early results in for Arizona Senate and House races.
Yuma voter centers closed and the results rolled in.
For the Arizona Senate race the early results were:
Sine Kerr: 49%
Brent Backus: 30%
Don Shooter: 20%
Michelle Harris, a stand-alone Democrat, took 98% of the vote.
Don Shooter, former Arizona Senator, responded to the defeat by congratulating Kerr.
“The people have spoken. I congratulate Senator Kerr on her victory. She will continue to serve the district well. Though I won’t have the opportunity to continue to serve as a legislator, I am far more optimistic about my chances of getting the truth out and prevailing in court. The true story has yet to be told. Thank you,” said Shooter.
Candidate Brent Backus also responded to the results by focusing on the pillars of his campaign.
“The four pillars of my campaign were to protect the U.S. Constitution to protect the taxpayer, to be tough on illegal immigration and reform education. I still believe in those pillars of our campaign and if any candidate that wins this seat wants to take up those four pillars, better to them to be a better person and represent [Legislative District] 13,” said Backus.
The Arizona House of Representatives early results for LD-13 were:
Representative Tim Dunn: 37%
Joanne Osborn: 25%
Darin Mitchell: 20%
Thomas Tzitzura, a stand-alone Democrat, received 100% of the vote.
Rep. Dunn said he was nervous before the results came in, but after the results began rolling in he said he was glad he was able to connect with voters.
