Holtville Boys and Girls Club win national dance competition

The Holtville Boys and Girls Club are proud owners of a new sound system after winning a national dance competition.

They made it to the final round where they were judged and declared the best of the best.

After rehearsing for over a month, the group of 16 kids did their best rendition of the Texas line dance. The final round was judged on creativity, enthusiasm, and participation.

The club’s unit director said the kids couldn’t believe the amazing news.

“We felt like we were put on the map now. Everybody knows about the valley. Usually, you say Imperial Valley, they’re like where is that at? So now we’re on the map. It was a great opportunity for the teamwork for the kids. And overall it was just a joy seeing the kids and their excitement. I believe this is the first time we’ve ever won such a big competition,” said Raquel Renteria, the unit director with the Holtville Boys and Girls Club.

The group plans on using the sound system to watch movies and prepare for the next dance competition.
