Experts say unwanted visitors may crawl into your home in this heat
Experts warn residents that it may be common to see creepy crawlers in your home during this time of year.
The summer heat effects more than just humans, it affects insects too.
“The best thing to do is make sure the homes are cleaned very well. Make sure that everything is sealed and then you need to create a barrier around the outside of your house,” said M.C. Bellamy, Team Yuma Pest.
Bellamy said what people think might work does not always keep pest away.
“A lot of people think that they can just go to Lowe’s or Walmart and get some Raid or whatever and that might work. It really doesn’t’t because a lot of that is so aerosol based that it evaporates so fast especially in the heat that it doesn’t’t leave that barrier,” said Bellamy.
Right now in Yuma the pest team is seeing quite a bit of cockroaches and bed bugs, said Bellamy.
Bellamy also said that we share the desert with some of the most venomous insects such as scorpions and brown recluses.
He suggests regular pest control visits.
“It’s very important to either have either a monthly or a quarterly, some type of a protection plan to protect your homes because you definitely don’t want to see them near your kids or in the bathrooms or the kitchen when you’re sitting there cooking,” said Bellamy.
