Record breaking heat hits Yuma, El Centro
The region saw record breaking heat Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Yuma, Imperial, and La Paz counties.
Yuma reached 118 degrees, surpassing the 2014 daily high record of 117 degrees. El Centro reached 119 degrees, surpassing the 116 degree record that was set in 1940. The normal temperature for both Yuma and El Centro this time of year is 107 degrees.
High pressure is bringing temperatures above normal through Friday. Over the weekend, Yuma will see temperatures near normal with a slight increase in moisture.
