Somerton FD respond to collision involving two vehicles

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Tuesday, July 10, at approximately 7:44 p.m.

The accident happened on Main Street and Cesar Chavez Street. Upon arrival crew found a Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Malibu on its roof with severe damage.

A witness on scene stated that both vehicles were traveling west on Main Street when the Tacoma collided with the Malibu and caused it to roll over. The only occupant of the Malibu, a 78-year-old woman, was complaining of back pain and lacerations to her arm.

The Tacoma had two occupants, the driver refused medical attention while the passenger complained of back and shoulder pain.

The patients were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and the City of Somerton is investigating the accident.
