Wellton man shares incredible dust storm experience
A man from Wellton is sharing his dust storm experience by capturing an unbelievable moment on camera.
Jose Ortega was at his house Monday night when he noticed a wall of dust creeping over his neighborhood. Ortega said he couldn’t believe how large the storm looked and has never seen one this size while living in Yuma County.
On Tuesday morning, he said his home and his neighbors only suffered minor damages with patio furniture tossed over and a few trees broken from strong winds.
“It seemed pretty intense, while it was rolling in with the clouds. It was shocking, but it gave me time to put some things ‘up’ to keep them away from the dust and the storm. I was talking about it with a friend, who says it looked like ‘The Mummy’, I thought I was going to see a face rolling in the clouds.”
