YUHSD Red for Ed leaders’ message to community

The Arizona teacher strike may be coming to an end. Members of the Red for Ed movement said they will return to class Thursday if state legislators pass the budget.

The Arizona Education Association who represents hundreds of thousands of teachers statewide said the fight doesn’t end here.

Teachers said they still are not entirely happy with the proposal. However, they will be back in class as early as Thursday if the budget passes because they said it’s a good start.

Teachers across the state started walking out on April 26th and students have now been out of the classroom for five days.

Many schools closed again Wednesday as more than 150,000 teachers marched at the State Capitol to get lawmakers to put students over politics.

In a letter sent out to the public, Yuma Union High School District Red for Ed leaders said they appreciate the community’s support.
