School districts announce plans regarding classes for Thursday
Local school districts announce their plans for Thursday, May 3rd as they wait for the Arizona Legislature to pass the budget proposal.
Crane School District
All Crane School District schools will remain open on Thursday after an announcement was made on their Facebook page.

Gadsden Elementary School District
Gadsden Elementary School District has retracted their earlier statement and will continue with school closures on Thursday, May 3rd.
School cafeterias will be offering breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. and noon for students.
For any updates, the district will continue to share information through their notification system, Facebook page, and district website.
Somerton School District
All Somerton School District schools will remain closed for Thursday. School cafeterias will be open to students in the community for breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The district will continue to inform students and parents of any updates through their alert system, emails, phone calls, district and school websites, and social media.
Yuma School District One
Yuma School District One released a statement Wednesday announcing school closures for Thursday, May 3rd.

Yuma Union High School District
Yuma Union High School District schools will remain closed for Thursday, May 3rd, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The district said schools will reopen on Friday, May 4th at their regularly scheduled time.
“Regardless of where an individual stands in their beliefs about the past week, we are a district and come back together as a district,” YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson said. “Now, let us attend to the academic environment, providing the education in every classroom that our students and parents deserve.”
The district is still calculating whether additional days will be added due to the teacher walkouts. Graduation ceremonies will be held on May 23rd for Vista Alternative High School and on May 25th for the remaining campuses.
