As you wish
The Make A Wish foundation partnered with Jack In The Box. All to make a dream come true for a child with leukemia. The best part about it, it was his own friends and family that gave him the good news.
“I think he was a little overwhelmed cause there’s a lot of people here. But you could see the smile on his face and that’s what we’re all about. It’s just doing whatever it take just to see that kid smile, ” said Jacquelyn Schneider, the wish manager for the Make A Wish foundation.
Robert’s wish was to have a real southern California vacation with his family. The reason why? Robert says it’s, “cause every time my family and I go on vacations, I always want them to last longer. And now we can do that with this wish.”
Robert’s mother says it hasn’t been an easy road but friends and family have supported them through it all.
“It’s unbelievable. Since the first day they told us he had leukemia, it’s just been an emotional roller coaster you know. And just to have all these people, our friends and family to be there for us, it’s been helping us a lot.”
For a child with an illness to have their wish granted, gives them something to look forward to. Heather Ginsky, the community partnerships manager for Make A Wish foundation says, “seeing the impact it has not just on a child, but on their family, and on the surrounding community. To know that having a wish is gonna enable him to have a little control and a little choice in what’s happening in his life right now.”
