Yuma schools introduce app that lets parent access students grades
Help is now available for parents who are not quite sure if their child is doing their homework or skipping out on class.
Yuma Union High School District parents can now monitor grades, get notified about absences and communicate directly with teachers through a mobile app.
It’s called the Illuminate Parent Portal, through the YUHSD app which helps schools and families become involved in their child’s education. Parents will get instant attendance information, meaning that if your student is not in their fourth-period class and is marked absent, you will see that through the app.
For educators, parent engagement is a priority and that means they’ll create tools to help parents with their needs according to the districts communications director.
“So having our parents involved is part of that link to the student’s achievement. We found that when more parents are involved, the more parents are aware of whats going on. The easier it is their student to have success in the classroom”, said Eric Patten YUHSD’s Communications Director.
