Agents arrest teens with meth taped to their bodies

Border Patrol agents arrested three teenagers for smuggling methamphetamine at the Highway 86 checkpoint Thursday morning.

At around 10:50 a.m., a commercial bus pulled into the checkpoint where it was directed to secondary inspection.

An agent identified a man who admitted to having a fake social security card which he obtained off the internet. During the inspection, he told agents that he had a cell phone that belonged to a woman who was also on board.

A Border Patrol canine team alerted to two teenaged girls, ages 16 and 18, inside the bus. Agents questioned the teenagers who both admitted to having illegal substances taped to their groin area. The girls also confirmed that the man who agents had detained earlier was also traveling with them to make sure the narcotics reached its destination.

The teenaged girls were transporting 19 packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 7.84 pounds with an estimated street value of $27,440.

The 19-year-old man and the teenaged girls are all United States citizens.

Agents turned custody of the narcotics and suspects over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
