Woman hospitalized after crash

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries Wednesday morning.

Upon their arrival at about 7 a.m. they found a dark grey cross over vehicle with front end damage and a white sedan with damage to its driver’s side quarter panel.

The drive of the grey cross over vehicle stated that she was southbound on Avenue B when the eastbound, white sedan pulled out in front of her, from the stop sign. Avenue B does not have a stop sign at this intersection. Although she was able to initiate breaking, she was unable to avoid striking the white sedan on its driver’s side quarter panel.

The female drive of the grey crossover vehicle stated that she had paid to her neck, back and left arm. Somerton Cocopah Paramedics evaluated her and she was placed into a cervical collar as a precaution, and transported to YRMC. The driver of the white sedan refused treatment and transport to YRMC.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
