Arc Imperial Valley will operate new Strikezone bowling center

Bowlers in the Imperial Valley will soon have a new place to call home.

Strikezone in El Centro invited local media for an inside look at how things are moving along and when the new center will be up and running.

It has been about a year since Brunswick XL closed in El Centro. Now new owners are bringing Strikezone to Imperial County and it will be operated by the Arc Imperial Valley.

“One of the main focuses of the arc is to make sure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are part of our community,” said Arturo Santos, CEO of Arc Imperial Valley.

The Arc Imperial Valley is a local non-profit organization and Strikezone will be providing paid vocational opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

“They’re going to make a big part of what we provide here,” explained Santos.

“My sister is a consumer of arc and she is only one of many arc consumers who are excited about the bowling alley opening and the opportunities that it provides as far as employment for our individuals with developmental disabilities,” said one of the Board of Directors with Arc of Imperial Valley.

Strikezone will have a soft opening starting August, 5th. They will have a grand opening once a liquor permit is obtained which they hope will be in one month.

New entertainment will include laser tag with smoke machines, NAMCO will operating the game room, and pocket billiards will be there too.

Mozzarelli Pizza And gelato will be relocating to Strikezone and will be offering a menu prepared by culinary school trained chefs.

“It’s not about us succeeding, you know it’s something for the valley. So hopefully the valley will support us” said Santos

Strikezone will provide 36 lanes for bowlers and it will have its very own pro shop for more experienced bowlers.
