19-year-old man arrested after smuggling $153,000 worth of meth

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 19-year-old man after finding $153,000 worth of methamphetamine in his vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say the man was referred for a secondary inspection of his Ford station wagon when he attempted to cross into the United States.

A CBP canine alerted officers towards the vehicle where 51 pounds of meth were found above the gas tank and in the center hump.

Officers charged the driver for narcotics smuggling and seized the drugs and vehicle.

He was then turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
