Truck on fire
The plume of smoke could be seen for miles and the sound of sirens rushing to the scene broke what could only be described as a somber afternoon in Yuma. The call, a commercial truck on fire on Somerton Avenue. Crews with the Rural Metro Fire Department arrived on scene and worked quickly, not only to extinguish the fire but to stop it from spreading to a nearby business.
A portion of the roadway was blocked off to ensure both the safety of first responders and that of those driving by. The vehicle a tanker type truck had become engulfed in flames feet away from a tractor and a local business. There hasn’t been any reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
