Boy flown to Phoenix after T-bone accident

A 6-year-old boy has been flown to Phoenix after a T-bone accident off County 19th and Avenue G.

Somerton Cocopah Fire Department says when they arrived on scene a red Nissan SUV and a Ford minivan had T-boned Wednesday morning.

According to a witness the Ford minivan was going South on Avenue G and County 19th. That’s when officials say the van collided with the SUV.

The Nissan SUV had one passenger and the Ford minivan had a female driver, a 6-year-old boy, and two young female passengers.

S.C.F.D. says there was serious damage to the Ford minivan. The little boy became trapped due to the damage caused by the accident.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department’s Engine personnel arrived on scene and used the Jaws of Life to get the boy out.

All six people involved in the accident complained of injuries and were transported by Somerton Cocopah Ambulance.
