AG Giant looking to future

With the growing concern over the depleting workforce especially when it comes to harvesting on company is looking towards technology to fill the void. Tanimura & Antle one of the largest agriculture companies with plants in Salinas, California as well as Yuma, Arizona their goals are becoming more than just a concept.

T&A acquired the Plant Tape Company in 2014; the company specializes in building a seed machine that can plant seed more efficiently and with less workers. Currently, planting seeds takes about a day to plant 10 acres with 18 workers. With the Plant Tape’s machine that turns into 18 acres a day with three workers.

The machines can cost anywhere between $120,000 to $160,000 and can plant an estimated 5,000 acres a year. T &A own approximately 40,000 acres in both Califnornia and Arizona.
