Neighbor’s quick thinking saves home

An observant neighbor noticed smoke coming from a residence on their street; the neighbor called 911 and emergency personnel arrived shortly. The fire was called in to the Yuma Fire Department around ten on Tuesday morning; when fire crews arrived they found that no one was home and made their way inside.

According to the Yuma Fire Department they tracked the fire to a room in the rear of the home. Early investigation showed that the fire may have originated from a bathrooms ventilation fan. The fire spread to the crawl space which melted one of the homes water lines. That slowed the fire down and helped crews put the fire out. Unfortunately, because of the fire and water damage the home is uninhabitable and residents had to receive assistance from the Red Cross.
