Convicted felon arrested for entering the U.S. illegally

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a formally convicted and deported felon who was allegeldy caught entering the country illegally.

Agents say Humberto Vasquez-Alonso, 56, of Guatemala, was seen with another man walking north of the U.S.-Mexico international border fence in a desert area near Calexico on Sunday.

Vasquez-Alonso’s identity and criminal record was revealed once agents took the two men to the El Centro station.

Agents say Vasquez was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2003 after being convicted for felony homicide.

He will now be criminally prosecuted for re-entry after removal as a convicted felon, according to agents.
