Yuma District One school board candidates meet and greet

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma District One school board candidates held a meet and greet at Lute’s Casino Thursday evening.

The meet and greet gave community members a chance to talk with the candidates, ask questions and hear about their future ideas for the district.

Five candidates are running but only three open positions. All five of the candidates were present, gave speeches, and brought their signature petitions.

One local district grandparent says she came out to hear the candidates and support the needs of the teachers and students.

"Get out and vote," said District One grandparent Donna White. "Somebody raised your kids, and now you need to raise somebody else’s kids."

Candidate signature petitions are due on July 8. The candidates will be on the November ballot. The final candidates will be selected on November 5.
