The importance of participating in the 2020 Census
SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)- The city of San Luis hosted a second hiring event for the 2020 Census.
This hiring event serves as a support for the city of San Luis. It also helps promote the importance of the Census.
San Luis City Administrator, Tadeo De La Hoya says, "This is very important to inform people and keep our community informed."
The United States Census Bureau states that federal agencies use census results to distribute more than $675 billion in federal funds each year. This is why it is important that everyone is counted for in the census.
In the last census, De La Hoya says that approximately 70% of the San Luis population was not counted. A possible factor being that many residents do not have home correspondence.
This year, De La Hoya says the city will have neighborhood informational events. Hoping to reach those not counted for.
