Border Patrol holds annual safety event to show dangers migrants face in desert
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - US Customs and Border Patrol announced their annual Border Safety Event was a success, as it highlighted how dangerous crossing the desert is.
Border Patrol says 27 people were part of the even, including a San Diego Attorney and representatives from several countries.
Participants hiked through a smuggling route to see the dangers migrants face when attempting to cross the border.
A live demonstration of a rescue was held to show what Border Patrol agents due during a rescue attempt.
