Oros slugs her way to DII, signs with University of Bridgeport
Cibola and Arizona Western grad Angela Oros is ready to spread her wings to the east coast
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - Angela Oros dreamt of playing college softball at the four year level but also knew that coming out of high school, just wasn't quite ready.
"I did want to stay close my first two years," Oros said. "I wasn't quite ready to move. I still wanted to play local, go to school here and play with my friends."
In her time at Arizona Western, Oros played in 101 games and this past season she led the Lady Matadors with 17 homeruns. She's a two time recipient of All-ACCAC honors.
"It's been amazing having Angela as a student athlete the last couple of years," AWC Softball head coach Nikki Bethurum said. "She's definitely a leader in the line up for sure and in the infield."
On Thursday, June 23rd, Oros made it official by signing her college letter of intent to the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
"I think it's definitely time for me to go experience," Oros said. "The coach talked about so many opportunities they have there. They had just been invited to a classic tournament in Georgia, it's something new they are bringing to the table so I thought that would be a great opportunity and good for me as well.
Oros now trades her Matador colors for the Purple Knights.
Angela plans to major in criminal justice and looks to head into social behaviors.
