Border Patrol arrests 14-year-old with drugs strapped to his body

JAMUL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)- A 14-year-old is arrested after agents found three bundles of crystal methamphetamine strapped to his body Monday.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta approached the State Route 94 checkpoint in Jamul with four passengers.

As agents questioned the occupants, a K-9 alerted to the vehicle. The agent sent the driver to secondary for further inspection.

After the people were removed from the vehicle, they found packages around the waistline of one of the passengers. Agents said they found three packages of methamphetamine under the 14-year-old's clothing, weighing 3.31 pounds.

CBP stated the K-9 performed another sniff of the car and alerted to the rear side of the vehicle. Agents discovered three backpacks containing 49 plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine, weighing 50.71 pounds.

The estimated street value of the drugs is $102,000.

The driver, a 34-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested along with a 16-year-old U.S. citizen, and two Mexican nationals ages 14 and 16.

Agents said the vehicle, the drugs, and the four passengers were turned over to officers with the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force.
