2 migrants saved from sand dunes
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Two undocumented immigrants were rescued in the sand dunes near Yuma by the El Centro Sector Border Patrol.
The rescue happened on Saturday afternoon at around 1:45 p.m.
The Calexico Border Patrol station informed agents out in the field of two people within the sand dunes who were lost because of high winds and limited visibility.
At about 2:18 p.m., two migrants were found by agents about a quarter-mile north of the U.S.-Mexico border.
A wellness check was performed on both of them and no further medical assistance was needed.
According to the El Centro Sector, it was confirmed that both migrants did not have the necessary documents to be present in the U.S. legally.
They were both brought into custody and taken to the El Centro Sector Processing Center for further medical examinations and processing.
