Calexico East Port of Entry expanding opening hours to 10 p.m.
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is warning of heavier traffic at the ports of entry now that the U.S. is allowing non-essential travel.
The Calexico East port will now be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting November 8. During the pandemic, the port was only open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This also applies to the Andrade Port of Entry which also reduced hours since March 2020. The new hours will take effect November 7.
The hour limitation was an effort to reduce the amount of COVID-19 transmission and limit non-essential travel.
The Calexico West Port of Entry will remain open 24 hours.
