3 minors died due to carbon monoxide poisoning in Mexicali residential fire
Mexican authorities confirmed Tuesday that the three children who died in a residential fire in Mexicali was due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Forensic Medical Service said the death of the three minors was due to carbon monoxide poisoning and not from the fire that burned them.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. on Monday in Mexicali. Firefighters arrived at the site to control the fire. However, the house was already completely destroyed. The flames devoured the mobile home of the Beltrán Villalobos family where six-year-old Luis Enrique, four-year-old Fernando Alonso, and three-year-old Eduardo were found dead.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the mother worked and sometimes left the minors in charge of the neighbors. During the time of the incident, the children were home alone. The father of the minors apparently did not live with the children.
Authorities are still investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
