Local businesses prepare for Valentine’s Day
The week leading up to Valentine’s Day can be stressful for some such as making dinner reservations and getting the right flowers.
Valentine’s Day can turn into quite the ordeal. For some local businesses, it’s their time to shine and make money.
Victoria’s Flower Shop owner, Czar Tafoya, said, “We look forward to it all year. We prepare in advance. There’s a lot of planning that go into this day. Ultimately, it keeps our business alive throughout the year.”
Tafoya added that for it, being the busiest day of the year, comes with a lot of stress but a lot of satisfaction as well.
“Well you know we get great feedback. Myself as well as other florists you know. It’s a very unique thing that we do for people,” said Tafoya.
For Julie Hamilton, of Greens Jewelry and Gift, it’s about giving customers the right advice on the best gifts for the occasion.
Hamilton said, “A lot of people get lost. Especially men going into a jewelry store. They tend to not know what their girlfriend or wife or fiance necessarily wants. So try to kind of lead them in the right direction.”
Samuel Jacques, a server at El Zarape, said it’s an opportunity to get creative and make a lasting memory for couples.
“So we do have special occasions like for example proposals here. For the day, we have special drinks, we decorate. We ambiance the place. For you to enjoy the best for Valentines,” said Jacques.
