Firefighters extinguish fire at abandoned building
UPDATE
Imperial County firefighters extinguished a fire that set off at an abandoned building in the city of Imperial Tuesday night.
The fire began just after 11 p.m. off of Aten and Clark Road.
When first responders arrived on the scene, a second alarm was called and they were able to contain the fire to just the one structure that was abandoned, fire officials said.
Imperial County Fire Department Battalion Chief Juan Rodelo said, “We’re still engaging with the operation of extinguishing the fire. We’ve located the scene of the fire which is on the east side of the building and just spread out from there. But we’ll continue with the overhaul and we’ll find out and try to determine what the cause of the fire was.”
Rodelo said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
