Kofa HS student honored at ‘Heart of Yuma’ awards ceremony

Vanessa Sotelo is a Kofa High School freshman who was recognized at the 2018 Heart of Yuma Awards Ceremony as an “Outstanding Young Leader.”

Sotelo received the award for her commitment to volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club of Yuma.

Sotelo’s volunteer coach, Tania Pavlak, expressed, “Vanessa helped with educational activities, gym games, kitchen soup, on-site administrative tasks, arts and crafts, and is a mentor for the youth.”

The Heart of Yuma celebrates organizations and individuals who exceed expectations as they work to ensure Yuma remains a great place to live.

Honorees were recognized at the Yuma Civic Center on October 23, 2018.
