YCHA awarded grant to help keep residents safe
The Yuma County Housing Authority is being awarded a $250,000 grant in an effort to keep residents safe and secure, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The funding was announced on Thursday and is being offered through HUD programs.
Some of the programs available are:
HUD’s Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Program HUD’s Capital Fund Emergency and Disaster Program “Families living in public housing should feel safe and secure in their homes,” said HUD Secretary Ben Carson. “These important programs help communities maintain security features many people often take for granted like deadbolt locks, emergency alarms, and lighting systems, and eliminate health hazards in housing.”
“HUD’s award to the Yuma County Housing Authority does more than fund security camera systems and lighting at the Valley Vista, Pecan Shadow, and Moctezuma public housing developments,” said Regional Administrator Jimmy Stracner. “It invests in proven deterrents against criminal activity and delivers greater peace of mind for public housing residents.”
The following public housing authorities will receive grant awards:
