Yuma man arrested after admitting to shooting his wife in the head

UPDATE:

Mark Antonio Villicana appeared in court on Thursday and is being charged with pre-meditated first-degree murder tied to domestic violence.

Villicana’s cash-only bond was set at $500,000 and his next court appearance will be on Monday, September 17, at 1 p.m.

Court documents stated that the victim was shot in the back of the head.

The family of the victim was present in court and stated that the victim was flown to a Phoenix hospital due to her severe condition.

The family added that she is recovering and that she’s responsive.

Forty-year-old Mark Antonio Villicana was arrested Wednesday night after admitting to shooting his wife, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the 10100 block of S. Typhoon Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. and discovered Villicana’s wife in the garage with a single gunshot wound to the head.

YCSO said they transported her to Yuma Regional Medical Center and that the YCSO Criminal Investigation Bureau was requested and assumed the investigation.

Villicana is facing one attempted first degree murder charge and is currently booked at the Yuma County Detention Center.
