Don Shooter speaks out after subpoenas were denied
Former Arizona Representative Don Shooter’s subpoenas of everything involving the investigation regarding sexual harassment were denied.
“Mesnard, I call him Mansard for a reason, said if he got a subpoena he would do it,” said Don Shooter.
The attorney representing the investigators told News 11 the requests were denied for legal reasons.
“…For reasons of attorney-client privilege and work product doctrine,” explained Gregory Falls, attorney at Sherman & Howard L.L.C.
The House released the report at the end of January. The report found that there was credible evidence that Shooter violated the zero-tolerance policy against harassment and general prohibition of disorderly conduct and that he created a hostile work environment.
Mesnard and Falls explained that what Shooter is requesting are the notes that investigators took during the investigation which lawyers do not anticipate releasing.
Shooter thinks it is all a cover-up.
He is sticking by his story that he was really ousted for speaking out against procurement contracts and was trying to save Yuma’s water.
“My conscience is clear. I said stupid things. I did what I do. I’m pretty blunt about things, pretty crude sometimes. That’s all true. I apologize for that and that’s all I’m apologizing for,” said Shooter.
Mesnard said Shooter’s claim does not add up.
“Mr. Shooter has attempted to make the claim that this was all a conspiracy. If so, it’s a masterpiece because you have nine or so who have come forward regarding his treatment of them. Somehow, I guess this would all be tied into procurement. I don’t get it. I don’t see how that computes, but it makes for a great story,” said Mesnard.
Voters will decide if Shooter will make it to the general election.
