Teen pleads ‘not guilty’ in arson and officer-involved shooting

Seventeen-year-old Kane Perez appeared in court on Monday in front of Judge David Haws and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

News 11 tried to reach out to family for a statement, however we got no response.

Perez is set to appear in court again on September 20.

Police said 17-year-old Kane Perez confessed to starting the fire that destroyed the Stewart Vincent Wolfe Imaginary Playground on December 28, 2014.

Perez was 13 at the time of the incident.

He was already in custody for the officer-involved shooting that happened on the night of August 1.

A three and a half year investigation by YPD and YFD led to the connection of Kane Perez.
