Crane schools host open house to prepare parents and students for back to school

Schools within the Crane district are hosting open house events to allow parents to meet teachers, tour campuses and learn about the curriculums and activities the school offers.

This Wednesday marks the first day back to school for students in the Crane school district.

Today from 5 to 7 P.M., and tomorrow from 8 to 10 A.M., all schools from the district will be open for parents to drop by whenever it is convenient for them.

Crane district schools have hosted this open house event for many years but have recently added the night option for parents.

These open houses allow for parents and kids to begin relationships with teachers and decrease any back to school anxieties students may have.

Schools in the Crane district include: Centennial Middle School, Crane Middle School, Gary A. Knox Elementary School, Gowan Science Academy, H.L. Suverkrup Elementary School, Mesquite Elementary School, Pueblo Elementary School, Rancho Viejo Elementary School, Ronald Reagan Elementary School, Salida del Sol Elementary School, Valley Horizon Elementary School and Great Beginnings School.

Superintendent for Crane school district, Laurie Doering, wants to remind parents that because school starts on a Wednesday, the 90-minute early release schedule is still relevant.

Doering said that children are also offered a free breakfast and lunch meal.
