Rivera Family Fundraiser

In tonight’s Making a Difference, a non-profit group is helping a woman and her family after she hit some hard times.

Wino, Created by retired federal agent Steve Mercado stands for ‘Workers in name only.’

It’s a group that takes time out of their lives to help those in need and tomorrow they’re going to help Maria Rivera by holding a fundraiser.

Maria recently lost her son and is now currently going through some serious health problems. Steve Mercado explains.

“A young lady, she’s a mother of five, she’s a heart transplant recipient. She herself is experiencing organ rejection. Financially things are started to compound and build up on her. What we’ve decided to do is try to have this fundraiser to try and raise some funds to help her financially as much as we can,” said Mercado.

The fundraiser takes place Thursday, February 22nd from 11am to 1pm at FTS Automotive Center in Yuma.

Chicken, tortillas, beans and salad is just some of the food offered at just six dollars a plate. All the money goes to the Rivera family.
