Locals Enjoy Free Jazz Concert
YUMA- The sound of music filled the Yuma Palms Regional Shopping Center Thursday. Locals brought their chairs to sit and enjoy the beat from the Yuma Jazz Company Quintet. They presented their famous “Latin Jazz Eruption”- with sambas, bossas, and Afro-Cuban excitement. The performance is part of the Jazz Concert Series. This is the 12th season the event has been going on. Every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. a you can find a new performer taking the stage, in the village area. The concerts started in January and will continue until April. Below is a list of the remaining concerts:
February 22- Local jazz and blues legend Jimmy Caves will sing and play some of his favorites with Yuma Jazz Company musicians. It is always a great night with Jimmy!
March 1-Internationally known guitarist Peter Sprague returns to Yuma with outstanding vocalist Leonard Patton. These two world class performers are incredible together!
March 8-Pianist/singer John Cain and vocalist Kati Cat return to the Village Jazz Series, where their musical talents and engaging humor have made them favorites.
March 15-A much loved staple of the Series, Phoenix guitarist and vocalist Pete Pancrazi performs with his quartet, sharing his nimble guitar work, warm vocals, and his own personal charm.
March 22-One of the most popular groups ever at the Series, San Diego’s High Society Jazz Band brings Dixieland excitement back to Yuma!
March 29-In a return performance this season the popular Yuma Big Band will fill the Village Area with big, swinging sounds! Gotta love the YBB!
April 5-San Diego flutist Lori Bell makes her debut appearance in the Series with guitarist/vocalist Ron Satterfield. Come hear what has made Lori and Ron such successful jazz performers for years.
April 12-Yuma’s dynamic duo Jason & Elle return for a second engagement this season, displaying their popular and compelling mix of engaging musical styles.
April 19-The Arizona Western College Jazz Band invites nationally known trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos to perform as guest artist for their annually anticipated AWC Jazz Fest
April 26-Closing the Series on a high note, Yuma Jazz Company Quintet will feature some surprise guests, and Village Jazz Series Education Awards will be presented to outstanding high school seniors.
